Older Infants

In the Older Infant program there is a strong focus on gaining independence and strengthening gross motor skills. There are lots of open shelves to encourage pulling up to a stand and cruising, play mats to build muscle control, more curriculum including story and music time, as well as circle time, learning centers and more time spent outdoors.

To give the babies a way to communicate with us before they find their voice, during meal times we teach signs that include more, all done, milk, food, please, and thank you. Each day, a story is read with these and more signs for baby to learn and practice. While we continue to follow each child's individual schedule as in Early Infants, the goal is to prepare each infant for the structured day and daily schedule that begins at 18 months of age in our Toddler Prep Program.
